get started. Psalm 84. We left off last week, Psalm 83. In fact, we only took the one Psalm by itself

because of the nature of that Psalm. So tonight we'll start off in Psalm 84 as we make our way through

the Old Testament book by book and chapter by chapter and verse by verse so why don't we pray

and we'll ask God to bless our time together tonight

Father in heaven thank you for your word and

for the book of Psalms Lord we're just so richly blessed by this book

and what has been penned over the years in these psalms and that you by the Holy Spirit would deem it necessary to include this collection

of Psalms in the pages of Scripture for us all these generations later to be here on a Thursday night

in the middle of a busy week, I know for many of us.

And Lord, tonight we just want to put aside all the cares and the affairs of our busy lives,

all the busyness of the day, all the concerns,

and just give you our undivided attention so that we can focus on you and what you have

for us tonight in your word so Lord as we do would you speak into our lives in the time that we

have together we ask you to do this in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, let's get started here.

Psalm 84. We're told that it is to the chief musician, again, as many of the Psalms are. And this

particular Psalm was to be on an instrument of gathath we don't know what kind of an instrument that is or was

and we're also told that it was a psalm of the sons of cora the sons of cora cora was actually

the cousin of moses and these were his sons, and they were what we would call today worship leaders.

They were song leaders, and so this is one of their songs that they wrote.

It's a very interesting psalm, and we'll start off here, verse one. How lovely

is your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts? My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord,

my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
