Psalm 55, so we better get to it. Why don't we pray? And we'll ask God's blessing on our time together

in his work. Can you excuse me for just one moment? It's getting really warm up here because there's a lot of hot air up here, so I had

to turn the AC up a little bit to cool it down.

So when you see me perspiring up here, it's not that I'm nervous, it's that I'm hot.

Okay.

All right.

Let's pray. Father in heaven, thank you so much for your word.

And Lord, thank you for this church.

Thank you for this beautiful building that you've given us to be able to meet in and come

together on a Thursday night and have our Bible study and especially

here in the Psalms. What a rich blessing it is to study through these Psalms. Lord, tonight,

would you bless our time together in your word? Would you minister to us? Would you speak to us? Will you reveal to us what

it is that you have for us tonight? Lord, we want to commit to you our time, this time,

and our study of your word, and we ask your blessing on it in Jesus' name.

Amen.

All right, let's jump in. Psalm 52. This is a very interesting Psalm as we're going to see.

We're given quite a bit of detail by way of a title

and a preface to the Psalm. We're told that it's to the chief musician and it's a contemplation

of David when this guy by the name of Daeg, if I'm pronouncing it correctly, the Edomite went and told Saul, who

was king at the time, and said to him, and these are in quotations, David has gone to the

house of a Himalek. So this is the Psalm that David wrote about this event in his life.

Verse 1. It's kind of gnarly, so hang in there. Why do you boast in evil, oh mighty man?
