You were listening to the batter-ready Bible study. My name is Aaron McManus, and I'm here with my dad, Erwin Raphael McManus. How are you doing today? I'm doing so good. It's absolutely beautiful here in LA, and I'm excited about what's happening, and I'm grateful for this day. I'm going to dive into Psalm 1 and 2. This is our verse yesterday, but because we're focusing on both sides of this verse, we wanted to take two days to dive into it.

0:22.4

Blessed is the one who does not walk and step with the wicked or stand in the way that

0:26.6

sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord

0:31.4

and who meditates on his law day and night.

0:35.1

We kind of focused a little bit around the company of mockers in verse one,

0:39.9

but today I really want to focus on two parts of verse two. Just the language is really unique,

0:44.9

that I would, that blessed is the one who delights, whose delight, he finds delight in the law of the

1:19.1

1:24.9

are thousands of years old and that they are written in the

1:31.2

Middle East. And so they're more Eastern in their religion than they are Western in their religion.

1:37.0

And the concept of meditation is a biblical concept. But there is a difference. And in Buddhism, the purpose of Buddhism is to

1:48.2

meditate on nothingness, which would move you toward nothingness. And the purpose of meditation

1:55.1

in the scriptures is to meditate on truth, which moves you toward truth. And ironically, the principle of meditation is you become what you meditate on.

2:05.6

And so then when you have an outcome desire of nothingness,

2:11.6

elimination of all desire, elimination of all emotions, elimination of all self. That becomes the meditation of Buddhism. But in the

2:22.9

scriptures, what the scriptures tell us is that truth actually heals us. Truth strengthens us.

2:29.3

Truth forms us into becoming the people that God created us to be. And so here the Bible is actually

2:36.6

exhorting us to meditate, but to meditate on God's truth and to love that truth, to find
