Get to our study, Psalm 119, the longest chapter in all of the Bible.

And tonight, we're only going to take two sections from verse 57 to verse 72.

And I am thinking that you'll see why here shortly.

There's a portion here in this second of the two sections we're

going to get to. And when I say sections for the benefit of those who have not been with us

when we started this study in Psalm 119, this Psalm has 176 verses in it, and all of the Psalm is divided into 22 sections of eight verses each.

And it's in the form of an acrostic, which means that each section corresponds with that letter of the 22 letters in the Hebrew

alphabet as well as the first line there in each of the first in that section. So we're going

through the Psalm section by section eight verses by eight verses.

And again, tonight I felt that it would be good to just get to verse 72 and for reasons that I think

you'll understand as we get into it. So why don't

we begin with a word of prayer if you would join with me. We'll ask God to bless our

time together in His Word.

Loving Heavenly Father, we need for you at this time to once again just quiet our minds and settle our hearts so that we can give you our undivided attention.

I think when I pray this, I do so on behalf of everyone that's here at this Bible study tonight, and that is that there's not a one of us here that wants to miss anything that you have for us here tonight in your word.

So Lord, as we commit the Bible study to you, we're going to ask that you as only you can

would enable us to focus and concentrate as you speak into our lives in and through this portion

that we have before us tonight. So, Lord, thank you. In Jesus' name, amen. All right, let's jump in verse 57.

The psalmist begins by saying, you are my portion, O Lord. I have said that I would keep your words.

I entreated your favor, verse 58, with my whole heart.

Be merciful to me according to your word.

By the way, again, let me parenthetically say that of the 176 verses, there are only three verses that do not in some way mention the Word of God, His decrees, his commands, His statutes, His Word.
