Well, today it's part three and part four of a ten-part look at flawless chronology.

As you think about the pattern of your life, is it mere chance that governs everything?

Well, as we have a new year, let's have a little fun with a poem from missionary Betty Scott a little bit later.

And we'll think about the legacy of Elizabeth Elliott. One of her friends will talk about that,

and Elizabeth will have a few comments about praise. How did she respond to compliments?

But first, let's look at the mystery of Providence. Have you ever wanted to be

like everyone else, but you knew somehow you weren't exactly like anybody else? Think about that

and donkeys who were lost as we think about the mystery of Providence.

You are loved with an everlasting love. That's what the Bible says, and underneath are the

everlasting arms. This is your friend Elizabeth Elliott, talking again today about Samuel,

reading from the book of First Samuel, which is in the Old Testament.

It's the ninth book in the Old Testament. And we've been reading about this man, Samuel,

who as a little boy was serving the Lord in the temple. And then he became a very powerful man.

He subdued the Philistines, their great enemies.

And then Israel, God's people, insisted that they wanted a king.

And Samuel tried to dissuade them, telling them all the things that were going to happen,
