We are in Proverbs on Thursday night. We're going through the Bible, book by book, and chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

And as you know, we are not rushing through our study through this book of Proverbs.

We're Lord willing going to do two chapters, but the last few weeks we've only done one but I'd rather be prepared

for two and not do two and so tonight we're going to pick it up in chapter 18 and see how far

we get if we get through to chapter 19, then so be it. If not, there's plenty here in this chapter, as I'm sure you know. So why don't we pray and we'll ask God to bless our time together tonight in His Word, if you would join with me.

Thank you, Lord.

Lord, we're so thankful to you.

We're so thankful to you for this season that we celebrate your birth.

And Lord, we're so thankful to you that we have your Word.

And we have this book open before us tonight here in your Word.

This amazing book of Proverbs, so rich, so full of so much. And so, Lord, we need for you at this time

by the Holy Spirit, as only you can, to get our attention and keep our attention so our minds don't wander as they're so often

prone to do.

We don't want to be distracted by anything so that we can focus and concentrate and hear

your word, but not just hear your word, but heed, take heed to your word as well.

So Lord bless our Bible study tonight. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. And amen. All right. Let's jump in. Verse 1,

Proverbs 18. A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire. He rages against

all wise judgment. This speaks to those who say, I don't need anybody.

I can just do this on my own and they isolate themselves, they cut themselves off from anyone else.

And certainly nobody can speak into their lives because they don't need anybody. And in so doing, they, to their own

peril, I might add, rage against all wise judgment. Oh, how foolish the man who seeks his own desire. I'll do whatever I want.

Whatever my heart's desire is. I don't answer to anybody. I don't need anybody.
