Three minutes after ten is the time, and here we are again, another week together. Thank you for choosing LBC, particularly at 10 o'clock on a weekday morning, and I can only

apologise for the fact that we are once again contemplating precisely the landscapes, both

politically and personally, that we seem to have spent the last year looking at. You might want

to press record on your ghetto blaster at this point, if indeed you are listening to me on

such a device.

Because I all, and listen, no one has been clearer than I have about the impact both mortally

and economically of Boris Johnson's appalling decision-making, but he is in charge and we are,

whether we like it or not, in the purest sense of the words, we are all in this together.

And today, I wouldn't suggest that I feel sorry for him, but he can't risk another one.

He simply can't risk another one.

And I suspect that finally, after a year, and God knows how many avoidable deaths, not to mention, of course, the untold economic damage, which is now being totted up as a kind of yearly anniversary tomorrow is the anniversary of the Daily mail described today as the most draconian

restrictions imposed on our freedoms in modern times and yet of course if it was being written from a

slightly different angle you could describe it as the most comprehensive and far-reaching public health

policy ever undertaken in peacetime.

Do you see what I mean?

I worry slightly about this continuing framing of health versus wealth.

Both have been horribly damaged, partly perhaps, by the false perception.

And I didn't notice this at the time.

So I can't criticize anyone else for it. But the fact that there's no such thing as wealth in these kind of contexts.

You protect the economy by minimizing the impact of the coronavirus using whatever means you can.

But of course, that ship has sailed.
