0:25.2	I'm James Lindsay and I'm going to start right off by reading to you from the handbook of Critical
0:32.3	Race Theory and Education to bring up what I think is a very important point to understand.
0:36.8	It kind of goes in the vein of my earlier, very popular podcast, Communism doesn't know
0:42.2	how, just to break right into it.
0:46.7	They write traditional mainstream approaches to education, tend to imagine the history of
0:50.8	policy as a series of incremental steps leading gradually toward improved attainments and
0:56.3	ever greater degrees of equity and social inclusion.
1:01.4	Critical perspectives, however, view policy very differently.
1:05.6	CRT views policy not as a mechanism that delivers progressively greater degrees of equity,
1:11.2	but a process that is shaped by the interests of the dominant white population.
1:15.8	A situation where genuine progress is won through political protest and where apparent
1:21.2	gains are quickly cut back.
1:24.3	So that's a really interesting little paragraph.
1:28.5	Obviously, we're setting aside the sarcasm because it's not the point today that there
1:33.6	is a book called the Handbook of Critical Race Theory and Education and yet to this day,
1:39.2	people defending the fact that Critical Race Theory is all throughout our education
1:42.1	or telling us that Critical Race Theory is not in our education.
1:45.8	The point, however, isn't this blatant distortion.
1:50.1	It's not even, by the way, hypocrisy, it's not even, it's a distortion.
1:54.0	It is an outright lie so that they can keep doing what they're doing, which is to keep
1:57.7	Critical Race Theory in the schools so that they can generate a race-based red guard so
