As we talked about last week, last Friday, during these blessed nights, particularly Friday night, during the month of Ramadan, at least until the last 10 nights, we're having this program called prophetic Ramadan, where we spend a little bit of time during the blessed month of Ramadan

0:55.3

being in the company of the Prophet, sallu al-a-a-u-a-was-lam, going through some of the

1:02.6

experiences of the life of the Prophet, Salah, al-A-Salam, walking with the Prophet,

1:07.1

and trying to deepen our connection with the Prophet Salada

1:14.2

al-a-Salam. So tonight I wanted to talk about a very important moment from the life

1:25.1

of the Prophet Salad al-A-Salam, one of the most important moments in human history,

1:29.3

in Islamic history, and that moment is called the Hidjira, the migration.

1:35.3

When the Prophet, Allah-A-S-L-A-Salam left Macca and moved to Al-Madinat-Munawara, the blessed city of Medina.

2:01.6

it actually means to leave something for something else,

2:05.6

very broadly and generally.

2:08.2

Like someone leaving a bad habit to develop a good habit, right?

2:16.1

Someone who maybe used to go to the wrong place and be in the wrong company,

2:21.3

and they leave that, they abandoned that,

2:24.3

in order to start going to a good place and be in good company.

2:30.3

And then, obviously, it has that physical meaning as well, that someone literally moves from one place to another.

2:37.8

They leave one residence and go to another residence.

2:41.9

And so we all are essentially undergoing this spiritual hijera in the month of Ramadan.

2:50.7

Right? This is a Friday night. And so maybe normally the kinds of activities, the company, the places that we would seek out on a Friday night, we're leaving that, we're abandoning that, and we're choosing these gatherings.
