Well, we are going to jump right in here, family.

We've got some ground to cover.

So if you've got a copy of your scriptures, we're in Daniel chapter 11.

And I'm going to read to you starting in verse one that says this.

And as for me, in the first year of Darius the Mead, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

So we're jumping in mid-conversation here.

And if you recall from last week, an angel had visited the prophet Daniel and said to him,

I'm about to give you a vision.

Daniel is part of the people of God in the Old Testament, who in this moment were living in a time of

exile. For review, you can see it here on a map. If you go all the way back to the first book of the

Bible, Genesis, in Genesis chapter 12, God told one man, Abraham. I'm going to move you to this

little piece of real estate that the prophet Ezekiel called the naval of the earth

with nations all around her. And he says, from that spot, I'm going to bless you and make you a

blessing to every family on the earth. And then God made a covenant with the children of Abraham

and said, if you walk in my ways, I will use you as my PR agents to the world, to let the world

know what it is to know God and to walk with me. And much of the Old Testament is the unfolding

tragedy of people who know what it is to walk with God, refusing to do so. And so God warns them

over and over again. If you persist in disobedience,

I will cast you out. They did, and he did. And so for 70 years, they lost their sovereignty as a
