Hi and welcome to the Orvis Fly Fishing Guide podcast. This week is going to talk about

care of fly fishing tackle. There have been a number of listener requests on

care of tackle. What do I do with my tackle? How do I best take care of it so that it lasts a long

time and that I don't damage it given that fishing season is just about on us it's a good time to take stock of your tackle. Now we can fish year

around in most places in this country and a lot of us have year round fly fishing

but we still think of spring as really the opening of

fishing season. May and June are just about the best fishing everywhere in the

country and unfortunately no matter where you go you wish you could clone yourself

this time of year because whether you're fishing saltwater or fresh May and June or just

prime most places so it's a time of year when a lot of us who are sick old flyfishers get a little

stressed out because there's just so much to do. So best to be prepared and get your tackle in order before that crazy part of the season starts.

Now first of all, most modern fly tackle needs very, very little care.

Rods, especially, for instance, I shouldn't admit this, but I keep a couple fly rods hung on pegs on the back of my

back of my house on the wall because I have a little trout stream in my backyard
