(“Rob”) Koons is a professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin, where he has taught for 33 years. M. A. Oxford, Ph.D. UCLA. He is the author or co-author of four books, including: Realism Regained (Oxford University Press, 2000), and The Atlas of Reality: A Comprehensive Guide to Metaphysics, with Timothy H. Pickavance (Wiley-Blackwell, 2017). He is the co-editor (with George Bealer) of The Waning of Materialism (Oxford University Press, 2010), and co-editor (with Nicholas Teh and William Simpson) of Neo-Aristotelian Perspectives on Contemporary Science (Routledge, 2018). He has been working recently on an Aristotelian interpretation of quantum theory, on defending and articulating Thomism in contemporary terms, and on arguments for classical theism.

0:31.6	of more personal introduction myself.
0:34.5	So I grew up a Christian from childhood,
0:38.3	I joined Catholic Church about 16 years ago,
0:42.3	and St. Thomas Aquinas was a big influence,
0:45.3	so it's sort of appropriate to be sure to speak to the Institute.
0:48.3	We actually ran across Thomas in Toulouse about 30 years ago.
0:55.0	I was doing a conference there on this.
0:58.0	It was philosophical, it was formal semantics of natural language,
1:01.0	the sort of stuff I did when I was starting out.
1:04.0	I had no idea.
1:05.0	I was just wandering around town.
1:06.0	I got in this church, and thought of an interesting one in.
1:08.0	It was the shrine, I used this, and Thomas.
1:10.0	So I spent a couple hours within there,
1:12.6	he's been following me around all the time.
1:16.6	He's definitely been praying for me.
