Hello and welcome to Sociology 101. Today we're going to be responding to a couple of Armenian friends, one of which I've had on the program, and another one that I actually went on his program just this last week,

talking about the doctrine of prevenient grace with regard to total inability. As many of you

already know, who followed the broadcast for any length of time, that we disagree with both

Calvinist and classical Armenians with regard to the concept of total inability, which is kind

of buried underneath the term total depravity within the T of the Tulip Systematic.

And that is the concept and idea that we are all born with this moral incapacity to respond positively, even to God's own appeals to be reconciled from our fallen condition.

We don't find this established in the Bible. We don't believe that we lost our libertarian free will because of the fall of Adam. We believe that God created us in his image,

and therefore he created us with the ability to reason, with faculties to understand, and to

deliberate, and to judge right from wrong. And therefore, when we hear the gospel, because of the

God-given conscience within us,

we are able to respond positively to that gospel appeal. So it's not a ability that we build for

ourselves. It's not something like we go out into the toolshed and build this ability. We believe

that it is given to us by a gracious God and that we maintain it because he doesn't take away

our ability to respond to him

simply because Adam and Eve sinned. When Adam and Eve sinned, according to the fall, labor pains ensued.

Obviously, the toiling of the soil came about. We were cast out of the garden, which we were separated from God.

But there's nothing that entails this concept that mankind is now unable to respond to the to the god even one who

becomes incarnate dwells among us inspires words to be written in our languages so that we can

understand them and respond to them there's just nothing in the scripture as far as we can tell

of this moral incapacity from birth to respond positively to god's appeals so that's what we're

pushing back on and we're pushing back on.

And we're pushing back on it, even among Armenians, who do very much agree with us and a lot of other issues.
