In the Book of Judges, chapter 12, we come across the Hebrew word Shibboleth.

It refers to a body of water.

But during the war between the Gileadites and Ephraimites, around 1200 BC, the term was

used as a military password.

The Ephraimites didn't have the ssh sound in their language, so instead of saying Shibboleth

when prompted, they would pronounce it Shibboleth, and often with fatal consequences.

Pronunciation of that name was a matter of life and death, and when asked, they couldn't

pronounce the name.

Have you ever been embarrassed when you forgot or mispronounced someone's name?

Maybe someone vital?

The heart of this meditation from Acts chapter 4 is about remembering, respecting, and

understanding names, pronouncing them in cherishing one in particular, the most critical name

under heaven given among men.

You will be together for about 15 minutes, but allow me to mind the time.

the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, embrace their names.
