They just finished the prologue at Cape Epic. They're going to give us an inside look at the race. I'm going to go over the stats for the race first, though. So then we all have some point of reference.

0:14.3

26 kilometers or 16.1 miles. Elevation 750 meters or 2,460 feet. This prologue, it's not like those short 10, 15 minute prologs you see in the Tour de France. It's a bit longer than that. It's basically a cross-country Olympic race. And if you think of things commonly, at least here state side, this metric will make sense. A lot of the time you think of a climbing, hilly ride of gaining 1,000 feet every 10

0:39.4

miles. That's like a, that's a rolly, very climy ride. In this case, we're even higher than that.

0:44.8

And this is just, quote, the easy day. You guys had a start or a stage time, a finish time of

0:50.4

one hour, six minutes and 14 seconds, six minutes and 29 seconds behind the lead.

0:55.7

You're in GC position 28th out of 48, 49, I think right now, or 48.

1:02.0

puts you guys in a spot where I don't think either of you have really trained for

1:06.9

cross-country Olympic racing recently.

1:09.2

You do gravel.

1:10.3

You do long mountain bike stuff.

1:12.2

How did you come up with a pacing plan?

1:14.6

Because we'll see this on screen here.

1:16.6

You guys aren't these like, you aren't built to be punchy, really, you know, high power

1:22.7

athletes that are going to have high repeatability right now.

1:25.3

You're diesels.

1:26.2

And looking at this course, it starts

1:27.9

out with a proper climb. After that, you have kind of a long, it looks downhill, but I guarantee

1:34.2

you it didn't feel that downhill after that. And then after that, then you have like rolling, punchy,

1:39.6

punchy up, down stuff till the finish. How did you figure out a pacing plan? This would be so tricky.

1:46.5

I think we're still learning each other as a team too. So I think we kind of were dubious.

1:53.4

I think we talked about it in the beginning of the podcast or the preview podcast, but different
