Hey, deserving listeners. If you haven't already, please become a patron of the podcast by going to patreon.com.

0:07.2

And today, I thought I would just respond to your emails, particularly the patron emails.

0:13.1

Another reason to become patron. Okay, patron Cody emailed in. This is a few months ago. and patron Cody says, I am a child and adolescent

0:23.9

psychiatrist in New Orleans, and I'm also a patron of the podcast. I'm working on a paper on

0:31.9

projective identification, and I have a question. You mentioned that there are three ways in which it can be brought about.

0:40.0

One, by choosing people who have those qualities, two, by choosing someone susceptible to the

0:46.6

identification, and three, by making someone identify this way. I was wondering if you had a

0:53.2

reference source for this that I could review.

0:56.8

Well, patron Cody, I realize it's probably four months since you emailed me this, and if you're

1:04.3

still working on this paper, then you are very similar to me because when I go down a rabbit hole,

I spend years writing some papers. I just recently

1:15.1

finished a paper on supervision, and I thought I was just going to spend, I don't know,

1:20.2

a couple days, and I ended up spending two months. I spent probably, I don't know, let's just take a conservative guess of about 30 to 40 hours per week for two months.

1:34.7

I spent just so much time.

1:36.8

And it was actually really enjoyable because I'd never really done a systematic review of supervision.

1:41.0

And I'm going to actually make a podcast or a patron only episode,

1:45.5

premium episode about supervision for everybody. It'll pertain to a lot of people because it's

1:51.1

not just about me as a supervisor, but also about what it's like to be a supervise. And the

1:56.8

prevalence of just inadequate and sometimes harmful supervision out there is just appalling.

2:03.4

And I have a lot of research on that. But anyway, so if you're anything like me, Patron, Cody,

2:07.5

you're still working on this paper four months later. And to some extent, I kind of hope that you

2:11.4

still are because I'm just now getting to this. But for your sake, I hope you, you've completed
