Hey everybody, welcome to Giants Talk. Today's episode is a look at the opening day roster.

We kind of projected out and tried to figure out how many spots are really up for grabs with

spring training approaching. Because of some scheduling things, we did tape it on Sunday morning

and then on Sunday afternoon during that rough Niners game, Chris Cotillo of Mass Live reported that

catcher Roberto Perez has agreed to a deal with the Giants.

We don't have much on that as of when this is posted.

Farhan has said that they didn't think any catcher would come in on a big league deal

this late in the offseason.

So I would imagine it's a non-raster invite but we will see um anyway that changes some of the math on the catchers and uh

you know somebody with this kind of pedigree he is a two-time gold glove winner pretty light with the

bat but uh obviously is very good defensively and in a calling game so you would think he probably jumps to the front of the line in terms of backing up Joey Bart right now.

And probably pretty similar to Austin wins in a lot of respects.

Good defender, at least has been in his big league career, right-handed hitter,

has not really hit a whole lot,

especially in recent seasons, although he does have 1-24 Homer season kind of out of nowhere

in 2019.

But he's 34 years old, and you would think that he's coming here to be the frontrunner in

that competition to back up Joey Barton's spring training.

So just wanted to include that here before we

kind of break down the opening day roster and what we thought. I don't think this really changes anything

for Blake Sable, who we talk about in this episode. Much different situation for him, obviously

is a Rule 5 pick, left-handed hitter, not really a true catcher. But anyway, Giants have another catcher who's headed to camp, which is good, because
