stressful you don't want a five minute conversation I I promise you, you want to address it when it's small.

Yeah, five or ten minute conversation, that's hammering. They perceive it as hammering.

It doesn't matter whether you're smiling or not.

No, if it's negative, yeah. It's five or ten minutes, it's negative, but it's only 30 seconds if it's positive, right?

And the manager's twisting themselves and knots trying to, I don't want to attack you, but I need

you to know I need to change the behavior.

Folks, I gotta tell you something.

If you're a manager, your directs understand the difference between themselves and their work.

If you have a direct who says to you or implies to you that when you attack my work, you

attack me.

First of all, they're wrong.

It's not true. And you can give them feedback about the response, but that's a whole other cast.

So there's a difference between praise and punishment and feedback.
