Well, it's never a bad time to see goodness in people and what can come from collaboration and communication and things like that.

And I think it's creatively for us.

We find it creatively interesting to imagine that everybody in the movie, even the antagonists are there with some kind of humanity and good intention, even if they're flawed or wrong, or they're deeply disturbed.

At least you want to get in that person's head and represent what, at least the way they imagine themselves and why they're doing it.

In this episode, a man forms an unlikely partnership with an alien to save their home planets in directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's sci-fi adventure Project Hail Mary.

The film tells the story of scientist Rylan Grace, who wakes up on

a spaceship as part of a desperate mission to stop the Earth's sun from dying. On his own and

millions of miles from home, he has a chance meeting with an alien on the same mission, forming a

friendship that may prove to be the key to success.

In addition to Project Hail Mary, Lord and Miller's other directorial credits include the feature

films 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, the animated features The Lego Movie and Cloudy

with the Chance of Meatballs, the pilot for the series Brooklyn Nine-Nine,

and episodes of the series The Last Man on Earth.

Miller has also directed episodes of the series The After Party.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles,

Lord and Miller spoke with director Guillermo del Toro about filming Project Hail Mary.
