Summary

In 2019, after my third attempt to BQ, I stopped chasing my impossible dream to qualify for the Boston marathon after running 3 hours 42 minutes in the marathon. (Missing my BQ by 12 minutes). Well...BQ OR BUST take 4! But it all starts with spending the next 12-weeks training to break 2 hours in the half marathon. The Philly Half Marathon to be exact. Every week I'll be breaking down my training here so watch or tune in!

Week 8 of training to break 2 hours in the half marathon (I'm calling this Project 1:59) is finished and so is my 10K!!!! This week, I raced the Sleepy Hollow 10K to get an idea of where my fitness is at.

All right, Project 159, what's happening? Right now I am training for a half marathon. I have spent all of this year trying to get back into fighting shape because in the back of my mind I've had this idea to try to

The Boston Marathon is often referred to as the everyday person's Olympics.

In order to qualify for the Boston Marathon, you need to run a Boston Marathon qualifying time which is set by I'm assuming the BAA the

Boston Athletic Association who runs the Boston Marathon I wanted to do it because I

was turning 35 this year which meant when I decided to announce that I was doing this again

my qualifying time was moving from three hours and 30 minutes to three hours and 35 minutes because I was

aging up. So there are different standards for different age groups and my last

age group when I first started trying to be Q back in 2016, it was 335. And I trained and trained and trained. I took my my time my marathon time from three hours and

59 minutes and some change down to three hours and 42 minutes and change but fell

short of qualifying for Boston but finished being like okay I can do this I

really believe I can do this which was exciting and so shortly after that they announced

that the new time was three hours and 30 minutes all of our standards removed because so many people were trying to qualify for the Boston marathon and the way the Boston marathon works is there are X amount of spots for each age group and gender.

And I was like, that's okay. I think I can do that. I feel really confident that

this is really challenging and hard, but I think I can do it because I get it I understand how this works I believe in myself now and I think I can do it
