Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to episode 223 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! This week brings the long awaited and truly awesome guest Professor Green to the guest microphone, the rapper turned documentarian and so much more!

As always with the Distraction Pieces Podcast, the chat does most definitely NOT focus on the main aspect you might be expecting, but covers a crazy amount of ground in the time the two have. And what a range on offer… Mr Green is clearly suffering from the after effects of some good time fun (with mate Example) the previous night but comes through it in fine form, leaping from topic to topic with ease, including how hard it must be to be a horrible bastard, the current state of society, news overload, the loss of hands-on skills, his insane experiences in solitary (for documentary reasons), dealing with the stress and fear of negative emotions, feeling the feels and not using crutches, troubled past, how folk can become comfortable and not take part in society, the greater subject of dogs and his own documentary work on what are considered difficult breeds, education, role models, Brexit, his touring days with Lily Allen and the difference in live music these days. All with tons in between of course. So dig deep and enjoy this in depth chat with Professor Green!

Welcome, welcome, welcome. This is episode 223 of Distraction Pieces Podcast and I'm joined this week by Professor Greene and it's a really good one. I know I was hyping for ages the episode with a Chili Gonzalez at the other week because my favorite I've possibly ever done.

0:19.0

And then I did this one and it's the first time me and Pro Green have properly met but we've shared a lot of, we've got a lot of mutual friends and to be blunt a lot of mutual causes. We've both worked with Carmel a lot over the years, looking at mental health.

0:37.0

We're both passionate about the ludicrousness of dangerous dogs and the dangerous dogs act and things like that is frankly ridiculous and we discuss all of that.

0:48.0

Obviously also we talk about rap and music and touring and stuff like that because we've got that in common too.

0:55.0

Similarly, well, one of my favorite conversations I've had an articulate and intelligent young man who is also aware of his own fallibility and his ups and downs and when you know he thinks he's got it all figured out and then you realize that you haven't.

1:10.0

Yeah, it's a good chat. Before I get into that though, I should mention that we're brought to as ever by speechdevelopmentrecord.com which is my record label which is where you can head to support the podcast in general.

1:24.0

You can buy obviously my live ed and refringe DVD or digital download. We've got a load of my albums there on digital download or CD or vinyl.

1:36.0

There's t-shirts, there's sunglasses, depending on how the weather is. We've got sunglasses and swimsuits but we've also got umbrellas and jackets.

1:46.0

So we've got you covered everywhere. So speechdevelopmentrecord.com. I also need to mention that next week's episode is with example and it's worth mentioning here because example and program of known each other for years they came up together.

2:02.0

We talk about each of them in either of the podcasts. It's weird I recorded the example one first but I wanted to put out the professor green one first because example is releasing a load of new music at the moment and I find with podcasts is best to have the music out and available.

2:19.0

The full EP so that when they hear the podcast they can then click and download rather than out next week or whatever because you podcast people are a fickle bunch who get distracted easily and you know you are don't be shaking your head at me you know that's what you're like.

2:34.0

So I hope you enjoy this. I've talked about this one to a few people saying how good it's been and I think there's going to be a lot of people who are surprised.

2:44.0

Let's Steven if I'm to use his given name because yeah there is the element that is you know a rapper a pop star or whatever else but a lot of people who know that don't know about his documentaries and don't know about all the work he's done.

3:03.0

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised or it's going to be exactly what you're expecting it will be as wonderful as you hope so yeah I'll be back at the end with some more information like I'll be talking about my where is this club night returns on September 29th at the book clubs come down to that I'll be spinning some tunes in a rubber lizard mask.

3:28.0
