Before we go any further, there's my privilege to bring in a best-selling author, esteemed

author and columnist and deep thinker, Andrew Sullivan, editor of the weekly dish and author

of the new book out on a limb, selected writings, their his, from 1989 to 2021, former editor

of the new republic, and was the founding editor of the Daily Dish, has been a regular

writer for the New York Times magazine, the Atlantic Time Newsweek, New York Magazine,

the Sunday Times, and now the weekly dish.

So, I appreciate it.

So, Andrew, you're one of the first major names to stand up and speak out and say,

listen, I'm not happy it was going on with journalism.

I do not like what the way people are trying to shape me.

I got to go out and do my own thing.

What got you to that point?

Well, look, when I wrote a piece who asked Summer saying, I really found the destruction

and rioting and looting happening in New York and other major cities, I wanted to write

a piece about it, and I was told that I could not use the word riot, because that was

a censure.

And at that point, I'm just after a year of being woke check, basically, being told

every sentence being parked, I just decided I had to go and write for my heart again,

and I should get out there and tell the truth as I see it.

I'm not interested in caving to woke purines.
