Producer Jason Blum thinks stars and filmmakers deserve a piece of the profit from their work.

So naturally, he opposes a push from studios to pay Netflix-style flat fees up front instead.

But that didn't stop him from taking a flat fee, a big one, to make three

new Exorcist films. Listen, I'm being a hypocrite because I took the deal that I think is bad for

movies. That's what I was getting to. Thank you. But this is the model that this is what we're stuck

with. This is, well, I'm not going to fight it. I'm going to take advantage of it.

Blum returns to the show to weigh in on the big battles underway in the industry,

including Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit against Disney.

He hopes it's the first of many.

So, we are going to talk about the Scarlett Johansson litigation on the show today with Jason Blub.

He's very pro Scarlett Johansson in her lawsuit against Disney.

Part of a broader fight to maintain profit participation for the big stars and players as opposed to taking a flat

fee. However, there are other ways to make money and a lot of it as Reese Witherspoon and Matt

Stone and Trey Parker, respectively of Hello Sunshine and, of course, South Park, have just

demonstrated with two humongous deals.

Yeah, $900 million for both in one week.
