As we return from the summer recess, I'm sure the thoughts of members across the House are with the friends and families of the victims of the tragic Barcelona terror attack last month,

including seven-year-old Julian Cadman.

Mr. Speaker, I want to reassure the House that the United Kingdom has ensured that assistance,

in the form of military and humanitarian resources, are already in place for those countries,

including the overseas territories, which are preparing for

Hurricane Irma.

Mr. Speaker, this morning I had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others.

In addition to my duties in this House, I shall have further such meetings later today.

And, of course, everybody agrees with my right honourable friend and the thoughts that she

shares, especially in relation to all those who perished in the terror attack in Barcelona, especially Julian Cadman.

Mr Speaker, as part of the process of leaving the European Union, it is imperative that we transfer existing EU laws, regulations, directives and the rest into substantive British law.

There are many concerns, very serious concerns, along these benches about the means, not the ends, of the EU withdrawal bill.

So could my right honourable friend assure me that she will look in particular at those amendments that seek to change the EU

withdrawal bill so that it doesn't become an unprecedented and unnecessary government power ground.
