Summary

Prime Minister's Question Time, also referred to as PMQs, takes place every Wednesday the House of Commons sits. It gives MPs the chance to put questions to the Prime Minister or a nominated minister. In most cases, the session starts with a routine 'open question' from an MP about the Prime Minister's engagements. MPs can then ask supplementary questions on any subject, often one of current political significance.

0:12.0	Mr. Speaker, I know the whole House will want to congratulate our Team GB Olympic and Paralympic athletes and support staff for the outstanding achievements so far.
0:23.6	Mr. Speaker, yesterday's incident in the Channel was shocking and deeply tragic, and our
0:29.6	thoughts are with all those who have lost their lives and their families. We must have
0:34.6	a renewed determination to end this. And Mr. Speaker, The Chair of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, Sir Martin Morbick, has today published
0:43.3	the Inquiries Phase 2 report. I know that the whole House will be, the thoughts of the
0:51.3	House will be with the bereaved and the survivors of the Grenfell power tragedy
0:57.4	and the residents in the immediate community. I will be making a statement shortly after
1:02.8	PMQ's today. This morning I had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others, and in
1:09.6	addition to my duties in this
1:11.0	House, I shall have further such meetings later.

1:17.6	Can I associate myself with the Prime Minister's remarks about the loss of life in the
1:21.6	Channel and about Grenfell?
1:24.4	The latest suicide figures are a sobering reminder of the misery caused by mental ill health.
1:32.3	McGull Health Park in my constituency is a centre of excellence with high, medium and low security hospitals on the same site.
1:41.3	The staff do an amazing job, but demand has gone through the roof, especially
1:45.6	since the pandemic. Does my right honourable friend agree that it is essential that we have
1:52.6	the same level of priority for mental health care and physical health care in this country?
