Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

April marks 50 years since the launch of our longest sustained military operation.

Operation Relentlessness, the beginning of our continuous

at-sea deterrence.

I am sure members from all sides of the House will want to join me in paying tribute

to all the generations of Royal Navy Submariners, their families who sacrifice so much and

all those involved in protecting our nation.

Mr. Speaker, tomorrow marks 70 years since the founding of NATO.

Let me assure the House that under this government, the United Kingdom will continue to

play our leading role in NATO, as

it continues its mission of keeping nearly one billion people safe.

Mr Speaker, this morning I had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others.

In addition to my duties in this House, I shall have further such meetings later today.

But I am also going to raise another very important issue.

Consultants and doctors in my constituency at the University Hospital have raised the issue

regarding the NHS pension scheme, tapered
