Can I welcome today's fall in unemployment to 5.2%, the lowest in almost 10 years?

Mr. Speaker, stalking is a horrible crime.

Dr. Ellen Arston, a GP in Gloucester resident in Cheltenham, was harassed for several years by a stalker who slashed her tires, hacked her water pipe, cut off her gas supply and put foul items in her letterbox.

She and her family suffered dreadfully.

The judge in sentencing said if he could give more than the maximum five years he certainly would have done. Mr Speaker, my Honourable Friend for Cheltenham has raised sentencing guidelines with the Justice Secretary.

Would my right honourable friend the Prime Minister today give his support for greater flexibility in longer sentencing where it is clear that a stalker is a real menace. Well, first of all, let me say how much I agree with my honourable friend that stalking

is a dreadful crime. That is why we've introduced two new stalking offences during this

Parliament. I'll certainly make sure that the Honourable Member for Cheltenham has his meeting

with my right-old friend, the Justice Secretary. I can't comment
