Summary

Prime Minister's Question Time, also referred to as PMQs, takes place every Wednesday the House of Commons sits. It gives MPs the chance to put questions to the Prime Minister or a nominated minister. In most cases, the session starts with a routine 'open question' from an MP about the Prime Minister's engagements. MPs can then ask supplementary questions on any subject, often one of current political significance.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. This week we progressed our Borders Bill to deliver counter-terrorism-style

draft what has now become the Employment Rights Bill. A new poll

shows three quarters of the British public back the stronger rights for workers in the

bill, including better sick pay. Yet that lot over there, the Tories and reform, disgracefully voted against it.

In fact, the leader of the opposition doesn't even believe in maternity pay or the living wage.

Mr. Speaker, our statutory sick pay is ranked one of the lowest in Europe.

It needs to be brought in line with the living wage.

So will the Prime Minister back my campaign to strengthen this bill further so sick pay is
