Summary

Since she was young, Bethany McDaniel, founder, and CEO of Primally Pure had always had the entrepreneurial spirit. As a young girl, she created her own lip balms from a recipe she found in a magazine. She enjoyed relative success for her crafty efforts and youthful determination. But she never intended on becoming the next big-time CEO. A humble recommendation from a co-worker to use jojoba oil to treat her long-standing battle with acne planted the seed that would grow to become Primally Pure. Here is her story…

In Part 1 of this feature, Bethany discusses The organic evolution of her natural skincare products, How she struggled with acne, How she received misguided information from trusted professionals, How she worked several odd jobs while pondering what she truly wanted to do with her life, How she discovered, through a co-worker, a natural remedy that helped balance her skin, Her passion for creating natural skincare products at home, How she continued creating recipes while working on her husband’s family farm, How Bethany began selling her home-made products on the farm’s website, How Her knack for writing helped spread the valuable information on the importance of natural, holistic remedies and products, How her small but loyal following helped her realize that her products really helped people, How she never planned for Primally Pure to be successful, Her hiring mistakes, and so much more!

Like for example, when I started hiring people, which I was really reluctant to do for a long time.

0:52.3

That was another mistake. I thought that no one could do as good of a job as I could with making the product and talking to customers.

Like everyone was a director in my company of five people.

And we were growing so fast that these employees weren't, didn't have the time to grow into those roles.

1:26.6

And I didn't have the experience to teach them how to do those
