Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

This week Pip is flying solo to bring you some cinematic hits and favourites for PRIDE FILM CLUB!

A straight from the heart celebration of queer joy and cinema for this episode, folks.

I'm sure this goes without saying but if this presents an issue for you, we might suggest proceeding with an open heart to broaden to your love for humanity. But failing that - with all due respect - this isn't really the home for you. As with Pip's sibling podcasts for the Films Of The Year, these picks of the LGBTQ+ variety are from Pip, and not speaking for every single person, nor are they selections that dismiss all other cinema! But they will definitely provide you with a wonderful dip into the rainbow of film that's out there and has been operating for maybe longer than you might think. Some you will know, maybe some you won't, but keep a writing utensil handy as there isn't a list for this - you're gonna have to follow along, old skool style. Enjoy and be well, and Happy Pride to you all!

Welcome, welcome, welcome. This is the distraction pieces podcast episode 519.

0:07.7

Can you hear my voice being all soft and gentle? I'm really excited about

0:12.4

at this episode. I've been, I've prepped it earlier and I just, I've sat down to have some

0:19.2

little some lunch and watch some TV and I thought I'll record it this evening.

0:24.2

And I've turned off what I'm watching because I can't stop thinking about it because I was

0:28.2

really excited to talk to you all. And for some reason I was also excited because I'm recording

0:33.2

on my own. I was excited to talk quite gently to you all. I mean this is a weird start, isn't it?

0:40.9

Basically, to end Pride Month, I wanted to do a little special episode where I talk to you,

0:47.9

it's Pride Film Club. I want to recommend a load of my favourite LGBTQ films.

0:56.7

You may have seen some of them, you may not, I'm hoping there's some things in here

1:01.6

that you haven't seen. But I want to just kind of, yeah, talk to you about them and recommend them.

1:06.4

I was meant to have a guest joining me but they couldn't make it. And then I just thought,

1:11.9

look, you guys know that when it comes to films, I could talk for hours on end anyway.

1:17.0

And yeah, there's so many great and varied gay films that I think, I think sometimes a lot of

1:25.5

straight people don't have them on their radar and things like that. But we'll get into all of that.

1:31.0

So essentially I wanted to do it at the end of Pride Month because Pride Month is amazing.

1:36.4

I love Pride. I love watching all of my gay friends thrive in and celebrating themselves.

1:43.7

Like you can hear the smile on my face as I started to talk about this. I did a tweet the

1:47.6

ever week, a rare tweet. I don't use social as much at the moment but I did a tweet saying

1:53.5

there's nothing that brings a tear to my eye more than queer joy. And I'll explain that because I had

2:01.5

a few people reply to that. I didn't reply to anyone because people just love arguing on stuff like

2:05.6

that. But had a few people reply saying like, oh, well, what's wrong with straight joy or whatever
