Off top. Get a little bit serious. I wanted to talk a little bit about the Robert

Sarver situation. He's the governor of the the sons, which is I guess what they

call the team owners in the NBA. He's being punished because for one year he's

banned from all arenas and all NBA and WNBA related things and also being fine

$10 million because the findings in the report from the NBA found that he was

guilty I guess of creating an equitable environment for women and guilty of

racial slurs using racial slurs to N word five times. All of the specifics of

it I think are very interesting and I think everyone should check out the

story to get a full grasp on it. But I think my experience as a leader in a

union leads me to want to talk more about the specifics of the punishment and

I think the purpose of punishments in general like in sports or otherwise in

a judicial system like you want to accomplish a few things with punishment. You

hope to protect people you hope to deter other people from committing this

similar act. You want to create some sort of like retribution and I guess you

also want to like create an opportunity for rehabilitation for the guilty

party and the reason why this particular punishment to me falls short is one

first of all the way this is set up it's Adam Silver works for the owners and

NBA is run by the owners Adam Silver is frankly the same as Roger Cadal

he's a bit of a manager for the owners who own the league. So when you really

think about who's levying the punishment it's an employee levying a

punishment on their employer and also like kind of checking with the
