Because I like subjecting Carl to these struggle sessions.

And we are going to treat this as a kind of capstone to the six-hour debate series that we did on liberalism with our colleagues

Josh and Stelios because even though we got no further in convincing them we really reaffirmed

our positions and this will be a boiled-down version of when those two-ven diagrams become a circle.

And I wanted to build off of a podcast you did quite a while ago with Stelios on why

liberalism is a universal acid because you analysed one chapter from a book by Professor Kaya Chambers and

the book was Sex Culture and Justice, The Limits of Choice. I decided to talk to

myself by reading the full book. It's not good but she is the most honest

liberal I've ever met.

She's totally open about it.

Yeah, and she rolls out the ineluctable logic of why believing in a kind of

universal human nature and valuing as a prerequisite,

the antagonistic diad of freedom and equality

arrives you at the Rousseauian position of the general will state that

interferes in every aspect of society as the precondition to your freedom as the

precondition to you being born free and equal. So we're going to go through a sort of structure that we've done some of the

podcasts before of where we're just going to go through a few quotes and then please interject

with your wealth of knowledge. So Chambers in her book sets out that a truly liberal project must take account of the two aspects of social construction,
