Hello and welcome to Inside the Huddle on NFL UK TV, joining me to look back on another memorable night at Wembley Stadium and ahead to NFL week 9, Mike, Mike, another great atmosphere and eventually a good game between the 49ers and Broncos.

Yeah, atmosphere was fantastic. Even though the weather

wasn't as great as last year, it's always fun to see so many fans out there with so many different

shirts, so many different teams represented. And to me, the biggest surprise was that even though

everyone were obviously were supporting their own teams, it was a very pro 49ers crowd. And so San Francisco

was obviously the home team. Good, they had something to

cheer about in the end. In the end, yes, but they almost didn't. And it was a slow first half,

but it was an interesting first half more than an exciting one, you know, okay? And especially if you

were wondering which way these teams are going. You saw exactly why they're having the problem

they're having. It all comes down to consistency.

Were they afraid to lose? It looked like, to me, it struck me that 49ers were afraid to push the

envelope too far. Well, you know, when you put in a new quarterback, that's not what you're going to do,

at least not unless you're a more dairy case than like single dairy. What surprised me was that

the offense wasn't changed from the Alex Smith offense. In fact,

if anything, it was simplified. But they were still doing the same sorts of things, like going to

shotgun, which I think plays against the strengths of Frank Gore in their running game. He had a

couple of really good runs early on running in the eye behind Warren Norris. And yes, it doesn't work all the time.

But you almost have to establish it.

And he's such a good runner that he's going to get his yards anyway.

But you want to maximize that.

And you saw Troy Smith make some plays with screens and short stuff when he's under pressure

and he can get the ball away side around and stuff like that.
