Hello and I'm welcome to this special podcast of the Lotus Eaters. I'm joined again by our proper horror show,

Chloe, who I've previously had a few discussions on her channel, which you should definitely check out,

proper horror show, about horror films, and I've also had a discussion previously about the

history of British censorship from the BB FC

onwards into the modern period.

And today we're going to be talking about the career and

filmography of Stanley Kubrick, at least the early

part of his career, which honestly, as somebody who considers himself a Kubrick fan, he's not my favorite

director, but he is up there. He's made, I can't argue that he's made some of the best genre films ever made whenever he's tried to tackle a particular genre he tends to be up there with the greats whenever he does particularly with horror picture like The Shining.

This is a part of his career that I was unfamiliar with which was the early career.

I've watched in preparation for this the Killing, Paths of Glory, and Spartacus. I did not

get around or get a chance to watch Lelita and I'm not entirely sorry about that given the subject matter of that

particular film I've got to say Stanley Kubrick is quite notorious every single film that he made

was an adaptation of a novel of some kind. Why that one Stanley? Why did it have to be that one?

But obviously you're much more familiar with this part of his career in these films than I am and you have

sadly watched Lelita so you'll be able to... I'm not going to sell you on this am I was going to try. I thought I can I can bring Harry Round

I'll talk about the artistic merits. Oh yeah.

And the witty repartee.
