I have a short Warhammer 40,000 story here.

It's an Astro Militarum or Imperial Guard theme story, Joe,

because I knew that that is the kind of stuff that you're into.

And what we're going to do is I'm going to go through it,

and I'm going to kick it to Campbell when I need something explained for your listeners,

who may or may not be familiar with Warhammer 40,000 stuff. Just as a quick background,

Warhammer 40,000 is set in the 41st millennium of what would be our current timeline, but far,

far in the future, about 38,000 years in the future. And at that point, things are pretty bad for humanity.

There's a lot of aliens.

There's a lot of demons.

We've figured out interstellar travel, but it takes going through hell to get there.

If you've seen the movie Event Horizon, I'm pretty sure they cribbed that from Warhammer

lore coming out of the 90s and late 80s. But this universe has been

going since the late 80s. I think it was 1987. It was when the first Warhammer 40,000 stuff

was published. And so this lore is very deep, very broad. It's got all sorts of stuff. A lot of it

is copied in crib directly from real world stuff. Sometimes literally copied in the case of a couple of stuff. A lot of it is copied in crib directly from real world stuff, sometimes

but he was like copying actual like military account. Oh my God, I forgot about that. Yeah,

I don't remember which book it was, but he ripped off someone's actual war memoir.

Yeah, it was an Iraq war memoir, if memory serves.

If someone wants to rip off my Afghan war memoir for a Imperial Guard novel, more credit to you, honestly.

Because that's going to be the most boring Imperial Guard novel ever written.
