Today we're joined by the friend of the show, Charlie Downs.

And we're going to talk about ideology.

Now, one thing to say is that ideology and ideological studies is a vast field.

We are not going to deal extensively with it and we're not going to make a particularly deep

dive to it, but we are going to make a particularly deep dive to it, but we are going to introduce some of the topics that relate with respect to ideology,

and we are going to sort of give tips of hazard spot ideologues.

And I think that we are going to have a discussion

about the dominant ideology right now,

or at least what we think it is.

And I'm sure that some of the comments will be spicy but please I want us all to be a bit polite yes yes I think the discussion around ideology is a very important one to have because I think that it's almost like trying to define ideology for a lot of people is like, you know, grasping at mist because as you say there's such an enormous amount of

scholarship on the subject and so many different definitions and

understandings of that single word that when you say it's like so many

other political concepts when you use that word

what you mean by it might not be the same as what the person you're talking to

understands it to mean and so it's it I think it's useful to actually you know get

down to actually what we mean when we say ideology.

And I think there are some very solid definitions out there that particularly people on

you know our kind of side of things should use.
