Good evening and welcome to the sleepy bookshelf.

This season, I know there will be lots of listeners

that will be delighted to hear that our first story for 2025 will be

Anne's House of Dreams by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Now, while many of you are familiar with this series, we know our listeners are as unique as

our novels, and lucky for you, our bookshelf is varied with lots of different types of

stories to lull you into a deep sleep.

The following is a preview to give you an idea of what to expect from this season. Anne's House of Dreams was published in 1917 and is the fifth

book in the Anne series, but the fourth in order of publication. It originally did

follow on from Anne of the Island, but Montgomery later wrote Anne of the Windy Poplars in 1936

to fill in the gap between the two. The latter is yet to come into the public domain, which is why we

are going to stay true to the publication order of the series. This story begins with the wedding

of Anne and Gilbert, our childhood sweethearts, and they move into their first home together.

We are introduced to some more charming characters

and we continue to follow Anne through the trials and joys of early married life.

If you are new to the bookshelf and haven't yet heard any of our other Anne's stories,

I recommend you check them out. We began with Anne of Green Gables, then Anne of Avonlea,

and more recently Anne of the Island. They are all wonderful and will set the scene beautifully for this next installment.
