0:45.1	early to mid-1800s, the Grim Brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm traveled around Germany and the nearby
0:54.1	regions collecting folk and fairy tales. They compiled, published, and updated them under the title,
1:04.0	Kinder and House Mission, or Children's and House Tales. The first tale we'll hear is called Snow White
1:15.2	and Rose Red, translated from the German title, Schnee, Weisschen and Rosenrod. While the main
1:25.8	character's name is Snow White, this is not the popular fairy tale you probably know, that may have
1:33.4	some familiar elements. It tells the story of a girl and her sister, who are friends with all the
1:41.7	animals in the woods. One day, they befriend a bear. They also cross an angry dwarf, who tells them
1:50.7	they will have bad luck. They live with their beloved mother, who only wants the best for them as
1:58.0	they grow up. What will happen is they live their lives in the peaceful forest. Our second story,
2:07.7	this season is called Snow Drop, though it's also known by other names in English and German,
2:15.3	including Schnee Weisschen, Little Snow White, and most popularly, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
2:25.2	In it, the evil queen asks her looking glass, who is the fairest in the land.
2:31.7	The glass tells her none other than Snow Drop, a girl in the kingdom. The queen orders that the girl
2:39.6	should be led into the forest, where a servant takes pity on her and spares her life.
2:47.8	The girl finds a home with seven kindly dwarves, and the queen decides she will destroy the girl
2:55.1	by a way of magic, deception, and wit. But perhaps there will be a happy ending for Snow Drop
