Good evening and welcome to this sleepy bookshelf. This season we have a special book in

Storferu. We'll be reading Anne of Avan Lee by Lucy Mord Montgomery. We know our listeners

are as unique as our novels and lucky for you. Our bookshelf is varied with lots of different

types of stories to allow you into a deep sleep. The following is a preview to give you

an idea of what to expect from this season.

Anne of Avan Lee is the 1909 sequel to the popular Canadian novel Anne of Green Gables which

we featured in an earlier season of the sleepy bookshelf. We had so many listener requests

for the next installment of the series that we figured it was high time we brought you

the continued adventures of this plucky heroine with the iconic red hair.

Anne of Avan Lee picks out where the first book left off. Anne is just about to start

working as a teacher at Avan Lee School where she recently finished being a student herself.

In fact several of her new people are her old classmates.

Anne is no stranger to accidents, surprises and misadventures and plenty of weight her during

her two year tenure at Avan Lee School. We'll see many familiar faces, Anne's kind yet

stern adoptive parent, Marilla and her nosey neighbour, Rachel Ninn, her sweet best friend,

Diana and dashing and dedicated Gilbert Blie. There are plenty of new faces on Prince

Edward Island too, a set of twins who need a home, an older man and his cranky parrot,

and a fairy like a woman who lives in a stone cottage in the woods. We hope you will join

us for this season. However if you decide that Anne of Avan Lee isn't your cup of tea,
