biographer, National Post columnist, entertaining worst-case scenario in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, much worse than anything

except for perhaps the collapse of Ukraine. That would be China taking over resources, the vast

resources of Russia. Conrad explains why.

Well, you need to think about it a bit.

I mean, the fact is the one nightmare outcome,

apart from the Russian occupation of Ukraine,

which I think is not on, this is not going to happen.

But the other nightmare outcome that was not so obvious, Russian occupation of Ukraine, which I think is not on. This is not going to happen.

But the other nightmare outcome that was not so obvious and isn't much talked about is if China said to Putin, look here, we'll just move 40 million of our surplus people into Siberia.

We'll exploit the resources there, which you never have. I mean, that vast Asian section of Russia from the Urals to Vladivostok, they have some oil extraction, but that's all.
