Hi, this is Justin going solo, just to give you a preview of all the Patreon episodes that we did this month. First up, we have our discussion about Mr. Arcaden, the Orson-Wells film. A really insane, otorist. What you'll say is Mr. Arcaden is by definition better than Citizen Kane because it's a further progression. Yeah. I don't actually believe. No, I know, I know. And maybe I'm not doing justice to the argument. I am, though. You are.

0:24.0

They're pretty flimsy. because it's a further progression, which I don't actually believe. No, I know, I know. And maybe I'm not doing justice to the argument.

0:22.6

I am, though.

0:23.3

You are.

0:23.9

They're pretty flimsy-ass arguments.

0:26.0

Before I sound like I'm beating up on Mr. Arcaden, I do like this movie.

0:30.4

It is, and this is Will's own words, the greatest Puerto Rico Roger Corman film ever made.

0:37.6

Secondly, we have our discussion about Adam Sandler's That's My Boy, which we talked about

0:44.8

in terms of being his 120 days of Sodom.

0:48.6

This is the one that took it too far.

0:50.0

This is like his Monsieur Verdue.

0:51.4

Yeah, do you think that like the director, Sean Anders, do you think he's like, I just want to tank Adam Sandler's career? I want to push this so fucking far that Adam Sandler could never make a comedy like this ever again. I mean, I genuinely do think Adam Sandler should have stopped after this. Oh, could you- This is it to- Could you imagine Adam Sandler is like, I don't want to make any movies like this anymore. Like, please don't make me. Like, I'm just going to do this. This is something that you would expect someone like Will Forte to me. Thirdly, we watch Canon Films production of Jean-Litt Goddard's King Lear. And whoa boy. There's a scene where there's a fire and somebody keeps putting their hand in it.

1:29.5

That's really like me and you will.

1:48.2

We continually watch this movie hoping for something that's not there. It's just going to hurt us. Whoever's putting the hand in the fire, I can just imagine the being like, whatever you say, Mr. Goddard. Yeah. Sure. Yeah. This is good. I'm good. And finally, we tried to write a wrong by doing another episode about Lucho Fulci, the Italian master of gore and surrealism himself.

1:51.9

I think it took a while for me to understand that it's not just gore.

1:54.9

You know, the fact that there's, you know, as these images marinate with me and they keep

2:00.0

haunting me and I keep... me. Haunting you.

2:02.0

You're opening the closet and you're like, ah, and maggots are flying at you.

2:05.7

Yeah, basically, basically.

2:07.0

And you know, you start to see more and more and realize how sort of unique his particular vision is.

2:12.6

And also, like, it's often hard to tell with him how much of what's good about his movies is intentional

2:18.1

and what the line between what's good and bad in his movies is.
