But you know, I do find that the Biden that comes across in this book, it's funny because it's intended as a tribute to both Biden and Obama, but they, it's actually, it's pretty good in that he captures a lot of very real qualities that Obama and Biden have in that like Obama is an aloof asshole and Joe Biden like this is exactly

how Joe Biden presents his record, which he's always talking about how committed to civil

rights he was where he didn't actually do anything for civil rights. And that's in the anecdote.

That's exactly what happens with Joe Biden at this pool. The book's treatment of Obama is very interesting because, and, you know, it's clear in that

NPR interview, the author did, that, you know, he receives Obama like I think a lot of liberals

do, just as this figure who's so cool that he transcends our attempts to understand him.

Every time he reading about Obama in this book, he's either saying something,

you know, kind of curt to Joe, who's like the beta sidekick that doesn't have it together,

or you're reading about him in the third person where these, you know, it's like Barack Obama

took a long drag from his cigarette. He was never in a hurry or something. And there's one

passage where Biden is actually, he's interacting with Obama.

And I think it kind of accidentally sums up how, well, it sums up a lot.

Hmm, Barack said.

The president was always saying stuff like that to me.

Hermf and hmm.

Occasionally a harumph.

Even after working for eight years, I hadn't decoded the meanings

behind them. Barack was at times a fortress. At other times, a glass case of emotion, as Will

Farrell would say. I love this passage because Obama is just kind of going, hmm, and hum and

ha, but the implication is, well, well he's actually there's actually deep thought occurring

presumably he's thinking about you know you know i don't know what analytic philosophy or
