And then by the end, the reporter finally starts asking about the budget and Gavin Newsom just get, by that point, he's just done. And he's like, mad. And he's like, yeah, we got to do something about it. Whatever. And then he gets up and like, as he's taking the love mic off is like, off the record, extremely disappointed. I'm extremely disappointed in these questions.

And then this is actually a great lesson in journalism at the time because I learned from watching this.

If an interviewee says, the subject says, off the record, the reporter doesn't have to make it off the record.

No, they don't.

They have agreed that it's off the record. It's a two-way street. I'm always, I'm always shocked by how few, like, politicians understand that. Like, you can't, like, you have to, you have to say all, like, off the record. Then the reporter will say this is off the, it's so basic, but you can't just like clear,

you get it's like the office when like Michael Scott declares bankruptcy, but like,

you know, shouting it out loud. I mean, that's also like his relationship with PR, like obviously

he's obsessed with it, but he also doesn't like, you know, I mean, I've heard this from,

if you're a local journalist in California, actually trying to get to Gavin Newsom about like a serious issue that's affecting their community, he doesn't care. He only wants like international press. He'll talk to the New York Times. He'll maybe sort of talk to like the Los Angeles Times and do San Francisco Chronicle a little bit or he'll have a statement or whatever. But in general,

like he only, you know, unless you're the New York Times or MSNBC or some shit like that,

he's not interested. And he'll really like box you out. He's very hostile to local journalists,

probably because they're going to ask him, you know, probing questions. And I mean, I do think

there's a role of like the, it's the,

you know, the parts of the media that have been glazing him forever and like not really

willing to ask him tough questions. I mean, that's absolutely played a role in his assent. And that,

and, you know, that bad is the, the PR is what he has the tightest, tightest control on in terms of,

in terms of journalists, you know, and outlets that he will talk to.

That's like, and again, it's like, you know, if you're local, you're kind of beneath him.

Right.

Yeah.

And it seemed at this point, I mean, from, again, an outside perspective, I thought, well, this guy must be a joke in San Francisco and California.

This guy's career seems to be finished.
