Hello and welcome to Broeconomics now in this episode I wanted to get into the business of

podcasting and I thought to myself well who do I know who knows anything about

podcasting and I rat my brains a bit but then it occurred to me, Carl Benjamin knows a bit about

podcasting. Thank you for joining me. I don't think I do actually. Not an expert.

Well I think you've done all right. You've had a...

done all right.'ve had a done all right that a reasonable career

on the whole podcast thing so yeah yeah let's start with listen what is the

secret to keeping an audience engaged from the moment they click on a video to actually

get them to watch the whole thing. How does that work? I mean I really don't know.

There's there's a whole industry and theory behind it that. I'm aware that it exists. I've just never

spent any time looking at it. The thing is, like I have always approached this very impulsively so I never had a plan behind anything and I just I just did things that I thought were a good idea

to do and so it just seemed like I just had things I wanted to say.

And so I would just lay out my thoughts and like,

this is what I have to say about the subject.

And I guess I happen to be the right kind of person to be able to grow an audience.

I don't really know you know.

To be fair you do impart wisdom to the troops as you go along I mean one thing you said

that always resonated me is is never waste the audience time yeah that's the

only real maxim I have yeah when it comes to it's... Because I mean this is something I noticed with a lot of content producers. There were people out there, big brains, useful stuff to say. But I'll often watch them and they start their stream and it will be 20 minutes of getting

their coffee mug facing the right way and it would be like saying hello to people in the chat,

which is great for audience engagement and stuff but you know they're

just warming up and they tell you several times okay now we now we we I think we can
