I went back very recently and like every third shop on that high street is a vape shop.

So the vape stores are like the thing that are like keeping this like local economy afloat.

It's funny to me because my great, great grandfather was in the Royal Army Band at Woolwich Arsenal and my great grandfather was born in Plumstead.

And where he was born, that street doesn't exist anymore because it was blown up, you know,

errant bombs trying to hit the fucking army base, hit the street in the war.

And so they built a bunch of social housing there.

But as I understand it, my family then moved further out.

So after the war, they left Plumstead and went to Croydon.

And it's weird how, if I look now, it took me a while finding, looking on old maps to figure out where the old station road was.

Because that was, and I've seen a photo on Ancestry.com of like the house he was born in in 1900.
