Summary

Rob Reiner's SHOCK AND AWE (2017) looks back at a handful of journalists who stood against the Bush administration's invasion of Iraq. Released in the first year of the Trump administration, it looks squarely back to the Bush era - in more ways that one. PATREON-EXCLUSIVE EPISODE - https://www.patreon.com/posts/148618908

I was particularly interested to watch this movie because of a review on letterboxed by

Rob Reiner is a form of American liberal now entirely marginalized within the Democratic Party,

0:12.1

one that is obsessed with the sanctity of American institutions and the beauty of hard-hitting

0:17.0

American journalism, but simultaneously thinks George Bush's head should still very much be on a pike.

So that got me interested. The thought of Rob Reiner, you know, Mr. Biden, Mr. Democratic Party,

And that extends to not just like the style of it, not just the cast of it.

1:16.2

But also the politics of it.

1:17.9

Oh, it's worldview.

1:19.6

All of the like talking points in this film, all of the moments that you're supposed to applaud,

1:25.1

all those moments where somebody says words to the effect

1:29.1

of, I just had to be a source for this story because I served in the military. And I was so angry

1:35.2

that these people who didn't even serve are using false information to send our boys over there.

Or, you know, there's a moment where maybe it's Woody Harrelson, maybe it's somebody
