You know, we're talking about the social network today, and, you know, on this podcast, those of you who've been listening of late will know that, you know, we've been pretty saturated on Aaron Sorkin-based content. But I honestly think Sorkin is at least somewhat incidental to this conversation because so much of why I think it was interesting to revisit the social network in 2025, you know,

a film that I think most of you listening will have seen, a film, you know, I'd certainly

seen it quite a few times already, you know, a very entertaining, fun movie from 2010, but

really interesting to watch 15 years on when we're now in a really a new era of tech. We're in a new

era of social media. We're in an era where a lot of, you know, the tech guys, chief among them,

Zuck, obviously, Elon Musk as well. That's Mark Zuckerberg, obviously. You know, they all want

to be based guys now, right? They're not lib-coded anymore. They've decided

that's done. And I don't know, this movie, I feel like there are a whole bunch of new layers to it,

watching it now 15 years on. I don't know, Wendy, what is your relationship with the social

network as a film? Yeah, so I saw it for the first time, probably right after it came out.

And I think I watched it again with my co-founders when I was in the middle of doing my

startup.

Because the thing about the movie is it's a little bit of critique of startup culture, but it's

mostly a celebration of it.

And I definitely interpreted as a celebration.

And I remember being in my early 20s,

working on the startup, being so excited about the tech industry. And this is in, you know, 20,

2010s, the tech industry in the 2010s was exuberant. There was a sense of, um, the best is yet to

come. These geniuses are going to take over the world, making a little better place. People talked

about that in an unironic way, which would feel ridiculous now.

And I remember watching it with my co-founders and thinking, this is us.

You know, this is great.
