You know, I've wanted to do this movie for years, knowing that it was over two hours long.

I just couldn't inflict it on someone until today.

We're talking about 2012's The Cinema Snob movie.

This film commission, maybe once a week to, I don't know, jerk off the Robert

Alman flicks, but what if?

Well, this movie is a vehicle for a minor YouTube personality named Brad Jones, who had

and indeed still has a show called The Cinema Snob.

It comes from the Channel Awesome universe.

If you don't know what that is,

that's a very human response. I'm not going to judge you for not knowing Channel Awesome,

but I bet a lot of you do know what Channel Awesome is. You know, if you're a little bit younger than us and you're the sort of person who would listen to a podcast like this, you probably had your

Doug Walker phase,

you know, I'm just going to guess. There is a streak of reactionary faux populism running throughout

this movie, along with a number of other tendencies that feel so emblematic of 2012-era

internet culture. And I'm very excited to dissect that. I would also just say, we could perhaps

be accused of punching down with this movie. This is an amateur film made by a YouTube

personality that we almost literally picked out of the dumpster because we watched it on

archive.org. This is an amateur production. This is something, was put together, obviously, with the help of

friends and people that he knew in Springfield. I guess the reason I have a mixed reaction, though,

is just his visceral kind of hatred of what he sees of the pretentious film world. It's so ugly.

Like, it's so difficult to be around, actually, that you're just like wondering, you know, what is going on with this person?
