This is a really stupid question, but what's it like working at CNN?

Oof, it's like really tough, you know, and it's funny because when I first started working there years ago,

they asked me to produce a documentary show, and they said that it would be unhosted,

which I was like, oh, amazing. I'm going to get paid pretty well to do like Verite cinema making,

which is what I love amazing and then

like a month or two into it they're like actually good news uh you're going to be paired up with a

correspondent and that correspondent is Chris Cuomo um and that was like oh well no offense to

Chris Cuomo he's actually like not terrible to work with but you know that was like

the diminishing of what I thought I was being called to do but then as time went on I ended up having to do a job

on the morning show and I thought I was going to do it for like six months and then like accidentally

let four and a half years go by. So it's

tough. It's tough to stomach. And really you want to be, well, as a journalist, you think when

you're in like Columbia journalism school that you're going to be appreciated for your brain and your

ability to like think critically and challenge authority and power, which is, you know, why I thought I was there.

But you quickly learn that there are these sort of mechanical skills that go into making television.

And a lot of the people who are in charge and who you work with, for all they care, they could be making a sports show.

A lot of the people that I had worked with on the

production side actually come from Fox News. They're not terribly invested in the substance of what's

being discussed. And then there's a small number of very cynical people who are really invested

in what's being discussed, but their political views go from like, let's say, Amy Klobuchar to,

like, George W. Bush. And that's sort of the only permissible ideological framework that they're

willing to allow on the air. What is it a gal would really be interested in? And this took me
