But I actually want to pause here for a minute and kind of solicit your thoughts on this because

there's no getting around the fact that lots of people do find the Borowitz report incredibly funny,

right?

And you've written in the past, you know, one of my favorite, one of my favorite Will Sloan essays ever

was the essay that you wrote about Lenny Bruce, in which, among other things, you kind of chronicled

your, what, years-long attempt to find Lenny Bruce funny so if I

were to do that article over again I would do it very differently I wrote that article in I think

2014 or so I was I was 25 at the time and well's being too hard on himself folks it's a good

it was a good essay well thank you but like at the time I thought, this is, I am going to revolutionize Lenny Bruce

discourse. I'm going to posit that he's not funny anymore, but he once was. And then, of course,

I was a very young man at the time. I found out that is the consensus. Everyone agrees on that.

But I mean, Lenny Bruce, I think he's historically interesting.

I wouldn't tell people, like, people should read about him and listen to his stuff because

it is fascinating in its context.

But like, you just had to be there in a smoky Greenwich Village nightclub, and you've never

heard somebody say a swear word publicly.

And it's like, you've got, you've got cops stationed at the

entrance because this man is going to, he's going to swear. And the comedy that you've heard on the

radio for decades has been Bob Hope and Jack Benny. And you got a guy on stage being like,

hey, Jackie Kennedy's a real piece of ass, am I right? And that's the funniest thing you've ever heard. Yeah,

because the danger is there, you know? But I mean, I genuinely struggle to offer a coherent explanation

for why, because people do find Annie Borough, it's funny. There's lots of people. Like his,
